In the era of Mobile phone, laptop, play stations etc. where we all are in a race and every day is a struggle , hustle for us, we need to sit down and spend some time with ourselves. Spending some quality time with self is much needed to relax. What’s a better way than a reading a novel to relax and chill? Tough there are many ways to chill but reading novels/books is way ahead of everything, we feel so. It makes your mind clear, we can think from wider perspective and it increases our knowledge as well as our Grammar.

We have personally seen people who read novels/books are well enlightened and learned.

So, let us share our own experience with you people. One of our team member has a friend who is such a novel addict that she even reads the novel while travelling in a local bus without A.C. Every spare second she has, the novel is her best friend again. Her knowledge of the words and writing skills are stupendous.

It is also said that books are our best friend and every answer we need is in one of the books only. We just need to pick the right one and commit to it.

So yes!! We all should read novels and we would like to suggest 5 best novels to read.

    The Alchemist

The Alchemist is a novel by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho that was first published in 1988. The story is about a young shepherd from the south of Spain who has a recurring dream about a finding a treasure. Believing that finding this treasure is his ‘destiny’ he leaves the comfort of home and travels into the African desert to find it. We loved how the book emphasizes on the importance of faith, hope and spirituality through the story of an ordinary boy. To be honest this is one of the best novel which can be read ‘n’ number of times.

This book has been written in such a way that there is nothing we would like to change about it. If you’re looking for inspiration, this story brings it in droves. The way Paulo Coelho wrote this novel is extraordinary. Literally! Hats off to the author.

The most important lesson we learned from this book is ‘never stop following your dreams, never give up on your dreams easily. We should try each day to achieve them. That said, things will not be easy along the way, dreams have a price. On the other hand, not pursuing your dreams also has a price’. So why not follow your Dreams!!!

Here are some of our favorite quotes from the book:

“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.”

“The simple things are also the most extraordinary things, and only the wise can see them.”

“Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own.”

The Immortals of Meluha (Shiva Trilogy)

Well who does not know about the great Lord Shiva. For those who don’t know Shiva is the almighty who is a householder, benevolent and compassionate; he is also the fearsome slayer of demons. He is Adi yogi, tranquil and peaceful as per the Puranas. What we usually hear ‘when there was nothing, Shiva was there. When there will be nothing, Shiva will still be there’. According to the author Amish, the Shiva was a common boy who is a patriarch and wants to save his people. You will get introduced with characters like Nandi, Sati, Daksh etc. and why Shiva/Neelkanth has a blue throat.

The characters are not new, but the tales, told in the third person omniscient narrative, are totally a creation of unifying imagination.

The god like character is seen from a kindly perspective where ‘Karma’ or Achievements are the only yardstick for life.

We all know about Karma right, doing good in our lives should be our only motto because we will pay for sins somehow no matter how much we try to deny it, hide it or escape from it.

The author has tried something different. He picked up our history (Hindus) & rich heritage and gave it an interesting shape for the modern reader for the modern day & age. We also want to remind everyone that this book is fictional, and you might find few things illogical. Well no one is perfect right and so does the author.

At the end this book is a gem for them who love history, legends and mythologies in a contemporary way.

One of the favorite quote from the book “A man becomes a Mahadev, only when he fights for good. A Mahadev is not born from his mother's womb. He is forged in the heat of battle, when he wages a war to destroy evil. Har Har Mahadev - All of us are Mahadev.”

To kill a Mockingbird

To Kill a Mockingbird is a novel by Harper Lee published in 1960. it has become a classic of modern American literature, winning the Pulitzer Prize. To Kill a Mockingbird focuses on that gut instinct of right & wrong and distinguishes it from just following the law. Even the titular quote: "Shoot all the blue jays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird" is itself an allegory for this message.

This book is based on how people are perceived and the privileges that they place upon themselves. Be warned that there is frequent use of derogatory language which is incredibly racist, but it is necessary for the context that Lee was writing.

There are two main narratives in the story: one about a neighbor and the other about a court case based on racism.

After reading this book a thought came in our mind that ‘racism still exist, even after 60 years’.

Well! Harper Lee created a wonderful work and this book deserves a read.

Here are some of our favorite quotes from the book:

"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.”

"There are just some kind of men who-who're so busy worrying about the next world they've never learned to live in this one, and you can look down the street and see the results."

"People generally see what they look for and hear what they listen for."

Pride and Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice is a romantic novel of manners written by Jane Austen in 1813. Well we believe that Jane Austen’s novels are classified romantic stories of women, but they always come up with a social message.

This novel is about a family who doesn’t have a son and so all the property is inherited by the cousin leaving the daughters with no money. So, marrying them in a rich and wealthy family is the motive of the daughter’s mother.

The mother was shown in a way that she cares very little about the happiness of her daughters after the marriage, the only concern for her was money. Imagine marrying someone just for money and no love, well we surely can’t.

The novel revolves around the importance of marrying for love, not for money or social prestige, despite the communal pressure to make a wealthy match.

Marriage is not the only destiny of women but even in today’s world women are forced to get married and it is told that they are born to get married. This is the sad reality of modern world as well.

Though the things have changed from past 200 years, but it is still struggle for women to marry the man of their dreams.

At the end we like to say that this novel is beautifully written and focuses on some important aspects of life and the way dialogues are written is tremendous.

Here are some of our favorite quotes from the book:

I could easily forgive his pride, if he had not mortified mine.”

“A lady's imagination is very rapid; it jumps from admiration to love, from love to matrimony in a moment.”

“The distance is nothing when one has a motive.”

Harry Potter

Harry Potter is one of the greatest movie series of all times which is watched multiple times by users. Harry potter series always created a new imagination in our mind and we all wanted to be a magician as well. This is complete fiction but there is no harm in imagining it right.

But how can a novel be completely shown in a movie. Novels are way too descriptive than movies and so is same with Harry potter.

You will find so much new things in novel which is not shown in the movie and it is not even possible as well.

We ourselves were mesmerized when we read the novel, it was so much better than the movie.

About the novel - the central character is Harry Potter who struggles against Lord Voldemort, a dark wizard who wanted to conquer the world and become immortal. He fights with dark forces along with his friends, family, school teachers and in the struggle lost few of his mains. Two of our favorite characters beside Harry Potter is Sirius Black and Dumbledore. You will get to know why when you will read the novel.

You will love the way how friendship, family is demonstrated in the books and yes the great importance of teachers in our lives.

Here are some of our favorite quotes from the book:

"Time will not slow down when something unpleasant lies ahead."

"If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals."

"It is our choices ... that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."

"It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.
